Southport have confirmed the departure of first-team manager Mark Duffy following the mutual termination of his contract.

The club announced the decision in an official statement, thanking Duffy for his efforts during his time in charge and wishing him well for the future.

The announcement has prompted a mixed reaction from supporters, with some believing the decision was necessary while others questioned whether Duffy should have been appointed in the first place.

One supporter, Kieran Richards, commented: "Shame it didn’t work but should never have been put in the position."

Another fan, Lewis, expressed frustration at the club's situation, pointing out that Southport had been just 90 minutes away from Wembley last season and questioning how the club had failed to build on that achievement.

Others felt Duffy's enthusiasm was never in doubt but questioned his suitability for the role. One supporter described him as being "out of his depth", while another suggested his public comments about players had not helped the situation.

Southport have yet to announce who will take charge of first-team affairs following Duffy's departure.
