Bamber Bridge have confirmed that Jamie Milligan has stepped down as first-team manager, bringing an end to almost seven years in charge at IronGate.

Milligan, who took over in December 2019, explained that he felt he had taken the club as far as he could and that now was the right time to step aside.

His association with Bamber Bridge stretches back much further, having represented the club as a player, coach and manager. He was part of the promotion-winning side in 2017/18 and scored the opening goal in their 2-1 victory over Grantham Town in the 2017 League Cup Final.

One of his greatest achievements as manager came during the 2022/23 season, when he guided Brig to third place in the Northern Premier League Premier Division, their highest league finish since the 1990s.

That campaign saw Bamber Bridge reach the play-off final, narrowly missing out on promotion following defeat to Warrington Town.

The club paid tribute to Milligan's loyalty, passion and dedication, confirming that the door at IronGate would always remain open to him.

Former player Jake Thompson was among those paying tribute, describing Milligan as the "Best Non League Gaffer you can play for" and adding that it had been a pleasure playing under him.

Bamber Bridge have thanked Milligan for his contribution and wished him and his family well for the future.
